The job of Food Service Cashier is done for the purpose/s of collecting funds for daily meal transactions; balancing accounts and depositing funds utilizing established accounting practices.
- Collects payments for food items from students and/or staff (e.g. cash, meal tickets, etc.) for the purpose of securing funds for reimbursement of costs for providing nutritional services.
- Maintains accurate student accounts (e.g. free and reduced meal status, meal count, etc.) for the purpose of providing documentation to meet state, federal and/or administrative requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Performs the duties of a Food Service Assistant as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of ensuring the effective and timely completion of their work duties.
- Reconciles transactions for the purpose of balancing accounts and adhering to established accounting practices.
- Responds to inquiries of students, staff and/or the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the type and/or cost of meals.
